Two thieves in the UK robbed a property, taking the keys to the owner’s Porsche sportscar and then driving off with it as well as a TV, a wallet and other assorted items. The driver called his friends on the phone as he drove away, boasting about having stolen the high-performance car, revving the engine for emphasis. The driver quickly found out however that having consumed alcohol, he was not in full control of a vehicle that was also rather more powerful than any he had driven before.

Two thieves in the UK robbed a property, taking the keys to the owner’s Porsche sportscar and then driving off with it as well as a TV, a wallet and other assorted items. The driver called his friends on the phone as he drove away, boasting about having stolen the high-performance car, revving the engine for emphasis. The driver quickly found out however that having consumed alcohol, he was not in full control of a vehicle that was also rather more powerful than any he had driven before. He crashed into a wall, overturning the car and trapping himself inside, although his accomplice was able to escape. The driver was then arrested and received a 35 month jail sentence as well as being sentenced for a series of driving offences, including a three year driving ban.

    In the US, a mother became her son’s partner in crime by acting as his getaway driver following a street robbery. After the son stole a pensioner’s wallet, the mother drove him away from the scene of the crime. The son did tell his mother what he had just done, as the not-so-daring duo drove away. The mother refused to let officers search their home, explaining that her son had thrown away the empty wallet, having spent the US$40 it had contained. The son was charged with robbery.

    The Japanese authorities are investigating a crash that involved a large number of expensive sportscars last year. Six people were injured in thecrash although luckily there were no fatalities. The incident resulted in damage costing some US$4 million and involved 10 high performance cars, as well as one rather more conventional vehicle.
