Factory fitting

Leica Geosystems has established new agreements with key OEMs including LiuGong Dressta Machinery and Caterpillar. The agreement with LiuGong Dressta is for a new Leica Ready kit for factory fitting on the TD-15M and TD-16N dozers. According to Leica Geosystems, this will offer contractors the benefit of sophisticated tools for digitalisation. Using machine control technology helps to optimise costs and enables more efficient and sustainable operations, reducing the need for manual stakeouts, optimising fuel usage and minimising the amount of materials and transportation required.

Leica Geosystems offers its machine control packages as factory-fitted options for certain machines from LiuGong and Caterpillar

The companies now offer the TD-15M and TD16N dozers preinstalled with the ready kit for Leica Geosystems’ 2D and 3D machine control systems at the LiuGong Dressta Machinery factory in Poland.

Rainer Bippen, OEM director at Leica Geosystems commented that the partnership allows customers to benefit from a ready to use upgrade to 3D machine control for Dressta’s dozers. The factory kit includes the main brackets, cables, junction box, radio modem, 4G antennas and sensors required to ensure the dozer is ready to install the Leica MC1 grading solution directly upon machine delivery.

Meanwhile, the new option for Caterpillar Next Gen Hydraulic (NGH) excavator customers is the option of a 3D machine control package from Leica Geosystems. This can be combined with Cat Assist features. Contractors have the option of a simplified installation of the Leica MC1 3D machine control technology into the Caterpillar Next Gen 2D excavators. This is available as an aftermarket system on existing Caterpillar’s standard NGH. The Leica MC1 machine control system is designed to assist the operator to achieve planned design. Information and real-time cut/fill indications are displayed in the cab on the Leica MCP80 control panel. The solution ensures higher accuracy and operator satisfaction while increasing productivity and sustainability.
