Cemex is adding electric truck mixers to its fleet in Mexico as part of its drive to decarbonise

Cemex is expanding its truck mixer fleet in Mexico with the addition of electric mixers. The machines have been ought as part of the firm’s strategy to decarbonise its global fleet. This initiative is a key component of the company’s Future in Action program, which aims to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.

The electric concrete mixers offer full-load capacity and can operate for a full day without needing to recharge. Cemex has already introduced similar mixers in Germany and Dubai and plans to expand into France, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Committed to sustainable transportation, the company has also invested in more than 1,000 heavy-duty trucks powered by renewable diesel and natural gas. These key transitional technologies will reduce carbon emissions in the short term as heavy-duty electric vehicles become viable on an industrial scale.

Cemex is a founding member of the First Movers Coalition (FMC), which brings together business leaders with global footprints to create market demand for zero-carbon solutions in this decade and jump-start the scaling of these emerging technologies. The FMC is working with its members so that approximately 30% of their heavy-duty on-highway transport purchases are zero emissions by 2030.
