Eight lives left

A van driver using a busy motorway in the UK was surprised when several other motorists flashed their headlights at her. She soon discovered however that there was reason for their behaviour as the other drivers had spotted a cat clinging to the roof of her vehicle.

A van driver using a busy motorway in the UK was surprised when several other motorists flashed their headlights at her. She soon discovered however that there was reason for their behaviour as the other drivers had spotted a cat clinging to the roof of her vehicle. The van was carrying ladders on its roof, to which the terrified animal was clinging. An internet appeal soon found the owners and the cat was returned unharmed though perhaps a little wiser for its 35km motorway journey.

    Police officers in the UK stopped a motorist recently when they spotted her driving with a rather unusual alternative to a safety belt. The woman was peering from between the legs of a high chair, which she had somehow managed to squeeze into the front of her car. The officers felt that this was unsafe as it obscured her view and stopped her accordingly. Why she did not opt to put the high chair in the boot (trunk) of her car is not known.

    A British woman called the police to report that her scarecrow had been stolen, only to discover that the scarecrow had in fact been taken into custody by the police. The offending scarecrow had been placed outside a village dressed in a high visibility jacket and a police uniform, to highlight a scarecrow festival in the village.

    In Texas a police officer took affirmative action to tackle a drugged driver dangerously speeding the wrong way up a major highway. The officer spotted the errant vehicle heading the wrong way and drove his police cruiser deliberately into the path of the car, to safeguard other road users.
