The Doosan 5tonne DX57W-5 has more power
695 Doosan Construction Equipment’s new 5 tonne DX57W-5 Stage IV compliant wheeled excavator complies with the latest Stage 3B emission regulations.

The DX57W-5 has increased power from the 42.5kW Doosan D24 4-cylinder engine which meets Stage 3B emission regulations without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF), through the use of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) after-treatment technologies.

Factory tests show a 15% increase in fuel efficiency, depending on the mode of operation and the work. A new ECO Gauge on the control panel helps the operator to lower fuel consumption by providing real time monitoring of fuel rate and there are auto idle and fuel efficiency menus. The availability of three power modes - eco, standard and power - and three work modes (digging, breaker and shear) improves controllability and versatility.

The new cab on the DX57W-5 offers more space for the operator and the controls for various functions have been grouped together for better ergonomics. The DX57W-5 has a new 7-inch TFT LCD adjustable colour monitor control panel with more functionality. The pressure and flow for the hydraulic attachment on the excavator can be adjusted from the main monitor in the cab.

Other comfort features of the new cab include a fully automatic climate control system with more air nozzles and additional storage compartments.

Fast workgroup movements enable the D57W-5 to achieve a high degree of productivity. The maximum digging depth is 3,795mm, the maximum digging height is 6,170mm and the maximum reach at ground level is 6,400mm.

Equipped as standard in the single tyre configuration, the operating weight of the DX57W-5 is 5.79tonne. A dual tyre configuration is available as an option. The DX57W-5 offers two travel speed ranges, with a maximum travel speed of 30kph.

The steering wheel can be positioned to suit the operator. The position and angle of the seat cushion as well as the position of the consoles can be adjusted independently of each other. Additional comfort is provided by the adjustable seat back and the lumbar support. A seat heater is available as an option while cab light, sun visor and side mirror are standard.

The undercarriage consists of a rigid, welded frame for excellent durability. The routing of hydraulic lines, protection for the transmission and heavy duty axles make the undercarriage ideal for wheeled excavator applications.

In addition to the normal trenching and groundwork jobs, the superior stability and lifting capacity of the DX57W-5 allow the excavator to be used for applications such as truck loading and unloading and moving pipes and materials in the working area. For maximum safety during all operations involving lifting work, the DX57W-5 is equipped with an overload warning device as well as safety valves in the boom and dozer blade hydraulic systems.

To maximise durability, the DX57W-5 is equipped with EM (Enhanced Macro-surface) boom and arm bushings, which are also much more effective than regular bushings when greased.  There are less welding points on the boom and arm for increased durability and filters have been regrouped in the pump compartment for easier serviceability.
