Deutz adds more stage V compliant diesel engines to its TCD line-up

A new series of inline engines has been introduced from Deutz. Badged TCD9, TCD12, TCD13.5 and TCD18, the power unit nomenclature matches that of engine displacement in litres. For the new flagship 18litre TCD18, it means peak power sits at 620kW and is supported with 3600Nm of torque, and it sits above the firm’s TCD16 V8 engine. Deutz has extended its TCD engine range with 9, 12, 13.5 and 18litre capacities

A new series of inline engines has been introduced from 201 Deutz.

The all-new TCD9 however, has thrown out the rule book when it comes to cylinder count. Where previously this size engine would have been a six-cylinder, the new TCD9 is a four-pot and boasts 300kW and 1700Nm of torque. The advantage of using fewer cylinders, said Deutz, is a shorter engine, which improves packaging for OEMs with space constraints.

Engine models in the TCD9-13.5 range are part of an engine family platform concept, using identical front and rear structures said to simplify installation and service.
