The Liebherr A 914 Litronic wheeled excavator

718 Liebherr’s Stage IV/Tier 4 emission standards-compliant A 914 Litronic wheeled excavator, at a trade show for the first time, has an operating weight of between 14.9-17.2tonnes.

Powered by a Liebherr D924 diesel engine, producing 105kW, the SCR system, which consists of an SCR catalyst system and other components such as an injector and AdBlue solution, is said to bring about a 91% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOX). A particulate filter is not required but can be installed as an addition for special construction site requirements.

Said to adapt perfectly to both earthmoving and road, sewer and pipeline construction, the new cabin on the A 914 Litronic increases safety and comfort.

As an option, the excavator can be equipped with the LIKUFIX fully-automated quick coupler system to change the mechanical and hydraulic tool attachments in a matter of seconds at the press of a button.

Engines and drivelines technologies have move forward, as could be seen at Conexpo 2014 - Geoff Ascroft reports Solutions for Tier 4 Final emissions regulations dominated Conexpo 2014, with many firms showing off their options of DOC, DPF and SCR after-treatments. Deutz, while staying with an SCR-only solution, took a more unusual approach on its high horsepower V6 12litre and V8 16litre engines. Both get a dual SCR after treatment system to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards. Using a dual SCR system,
