RSSA sophisticated new non-intrusive radar classifier that measures traffic data is being offered by 2583 Quixote Transportation Technologies (QTT). Called the trans-Q, the device is portable and designed for non-contact measurement. Radar technology is used to detect traffic count, speed, and length. The package is said to offer an ideal alternative to data collation needs when other portable or permanent traffic sensors cannot be used because of location, safety or other regulations. The trans-Q classifier can be set up at the roadside using a hand operated device (PDA) and detects all passing vehicles in two directions, collating their length, speed and classification. Data can be retrieved using a PDA or standard wireless connection. It can provide high-resolution traffic data for vehicles travelling at speeds ranging from 3-199km/h, with a large memory that has sufficient storage for information on up to 1.2 million vehicles. It also has a rechargeable battery although a solar power option is available.

Innovative technology has been used to deliver a smooth concrete road surface on a busy stretch of highway in Nebraska. Much-needed work on a busy section of Interstate 80 has been carried out in Nebraska to improve the road surface. This is one of the most important highways in the US, providing a link that stretches right across the country between the east and west coasts. This busy highway carries a high percentage of heavy truck traffic as it is a vital transport route. However this constant flow of la

Wirtgen is introducing a new concrete paver range, the SP90 series. These models will replace the existing SP80 series as well as the SP850. Four basic models have been announced at present, the SP92, SP92i, SP94 and SP94i, although with the range of options and features available, the capabilities offered will be extensive. Paving widths for the machines now range from 2-9.5m, increasing the maximum width and allowing these units to handle a wider array of slipforming tasks than the earlier SP80 Series mod
