The driver of a stretch limousine in the US found out that his vehicle should stay on the right side of the tracks. The long wheelbase car had been rented by teenagers, celebrating a birthday in the US state of Indiana. However when the driver attempted to cross the rail tracks, the car became stranded on top with both axles clear of the ground. The driver of a stretch limousine in the US found out that his vehicle should stay on the right side of the tracks. The long wheelbase car had been rented by teenagers, celebrating a birthday in the US state of Indiana. However when the driver attempted to cross the rail tracks, the car became stranded on top with both axles clear of the ground. The teenagers and the driver got out of the vehicle safely and attempted to warn the driver of an oncoming goods train. However the heavily laden train was unable to stop in time, ramming into the side of the limousine and shoving it a distance up the tracks.

    A touring cyclist in Canada recently received the benefit of a new training tool while out on a long ride. The cyclist was slowly pedalling up a long climb on his heavily laden bicycle. A bear spotted the solo rider, and deciding that this presented a meal opportunity, hopped over the guardrail and ambled quietly after the rider. Luckily for the cyclist, a driver in a pick-up truck spotted what was happening and placed his vehicle in-between the animal and the bicycle, while also sounding his horn.

  • Controversial Russian bridge opens

    The first stage of a controversial Russian bridge project is now complete, with the link having been opened to use by cars and buses. The Kerch Strait bridge spans the Black Sea, connecting Russia’s Taman Peninsula in Krasnodar with Crimea, the latter having been controversially annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014. The official opening of the 19km-long bridge was carried out by Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, who drove across the link in a Russian-manufactured Kamaz truck to reach the city of Kerch.
