1527 ContiTech has announced the development of conveyor belts able to work with hotter and larger materials.

The company’s tailor-made, heat-resistant conveyor belts now feature a new “heat control” insulating layer, ContiTech said on Monday at Conexpo 2014. That insulating layer reduces the transmission of heat from the surface of the conveyor belt to the strength members of the carcass by as much as 40ºC.

Overall, the belts can withstand temperatures of up to 600ºC when transporting hot bulk materials. Companies in a variety of industries are able to utilise the belts because of the various component and compound options that provide tailor-made solutions.

In addition, ContiTech’s closed-trough belt, MegaPipe, has a dimension up to 900mm in diameter, compared with 701mm in standard brands. “Thus, the capacity of the conveyor system is increased by more than 100% compared to conventional closed-trough belts,” the company stated.

The increased diameter enables the conveyor belts to transport large lump sizes, including utilisation immediately after a primary crusher.
