179 CEI Enterprises is now developing a full new line of concrete production plants. This takes the firm, part of 681 Astec Industries, into a new business segment and CEI is working on the engineering required as well as planning its manufacturing and marketing operations for these units. The range will include nine new designs of concrete plants and will include both traditional batch plants and innovative new plant technologies. Included in the new innovative technologies will be the conventional concrete, roller compacted concrete (RCC), and cement treated base (CTB) plant designs that had previously been produced by Astec INC. With this technology transfer, Astec INC is exiting the concrete production plant business to focus on a new renewable energy product line and all concrete plant prodution equipment is being moved over to CEI. Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is introducing its Tier 4 Final earthmovers to the world market at Conexpo 2014. The new Tier 4 line-up includes the new generation E-Series excavators, H-Series wheeled loaders and G-Series articulated haulers.
French access and telehandler manufacturer Haulotte returned to profit in 2012 and, though the first quarter of 2013 is down year-on-year, CEO Alexandre Saubot remains confident about continued growth this year. “We achieved a decent performance in 2012 with almost 16% growth,” said Saubot. “2013 will remain a challenge for us, we will have to continue to work hard for sales growth.”

German company Pfreundt, a provider of weighing systems, is presenting a prototype for a new wheeled loader weighing system, which has initially been outfitted for markets in developing countries, for intralogistics and for agriculture and forestry. The new scale’s features include connection to the new Pfreundt web portal, self-assembly and calibration by dealers or customers, and a touch-screen with a simple, intuitive interface, similar to smartphones. Market launch is scheduled for 2014.
