Demolition specialist 7571 Brokk is offering two new concepts in the shape of its 280 model and its multi-cutter. The 280 model benefits from increased power, a tougher design and an upgraded electrical system. According to the firm the Brokk 280 has been designed to better cope with tough demolition working areas and is also said to offer increased demolition power compared with its predecessor.

The machine has the new Brokk SmartPower electrical system, as well as special hardened components, increasing reliability and versatility.

The Brokk 280 features a 6.2m reach and weighs 3.15tonnes), while generating as much as 25% more breaking performance in terms of impact power and blow frequency than the earlier generation unit. In addition the firm says that the machine offers improved manoeuvring capabilities as well as more precise control, without sacrificing compactness, precision and versatility.

The Brokk SmartPower package is also fitted on the new Brokk 120 diesel machine. This sophisticated system includes hardened components and fewer moving parts and is said to optimise performance based on factors such as power supply quality and ambient temperature. The system can sense when a power supply is poor or faulty, making it suitable for generators or unreliable power supplies. The intelligent motor control monitors electrical and hydraulic temperatures also tracks power usage, adjusting the machine to use more power in cold environments and less power in hot environments and preventing overheating. The machine also offers a 60% increase in cooling system capacity over the Brokk 260 it replaces.

Also new from the firm is the MC200 Multi Cutter, manufactured by Brokk’s sister company, Darda. The unit is said to offer a high power-to-weight ratio and a compact design and meets the market need for a lightweight, economical steel cutting tool. The 250mm by 330mm Multi Cutter is 1.02m long and can be used on machines weighing 1.2-2.8tonnes, including the Brokk 100, 120 D and 160 models. The attachment also features a hydraulic 360° rotary drive for exact positioning and a 200mm jaw opening, while it weighs only 130kg but can exert 50tonnes of cutting force at 270 bars to cut through steel.
