1130 Bobcat is launching a completely new generation of 2-4 tonne mini excavators this year. The first of the new machines are in the 2-3 tonne range - the E26 (operating weight 2,560kg), E27 (2,610kg) and the E27z (2,700kg).

All the new models already meet the upcoming European Stage V engine emission regulations and comply with weight limits for easy trailering, according to the company.

The focus has been on operator comfort and the units form a new flexible machine platform with different configurations of machines and specifications to suit a wide range of applications.

Bobcat says that a similar radical transformation is taking place in the 3-4 tonne range – the E34 and E35z. The company will release more information on these new machines at Intermat.

The new generation version of the popular E26 excavator is aimed at the rental market. It has a transport weight brand new robust workgroup with an innovative cylinder-inside-boom (CIB) feature.

The new E27z model further enhances the performance of Bobcat’s current E26 machine. It is a true Zero House Swing (ZHS) machine, even with the optional heavy counterweight. The E27z offers higher 360° stability and a lower weight for easier transportation. With the optional long arm and deluxe cab, the E27z offers the digging output and operator comfort of much larger excavators, according to the company.

The new conventional swing E27 has a transport weight that is still below the weight limits for appropriate trailers.  Even with the optional heavy counterweight, the E27 offers just 280mm of tail overhang which allows the machine to be operated in confined spaces.

As well as the arm-mounted auxiliaries on the workgroup, Bobcat offers Geith and Lehnhoff Hydraulic Coupler and tilt coupler options. A bucket diverter valve kit is available to power a clam shell bucket attachment. Other options include LED lights and an easy to install beacon. For safer loading and transport, four more tie-down points have been added as standard on the upper structure.
