BKT enters rigid dumper tyre market with SR 45

Balkrishna Industries (7297 BKT) has entered the market for rigid dumper truck tyres with its new SR 45 Plus 2.7m diameter radial tyre. On show for the first time at bauma, the tyre has all steel casing for stability and resistance to cuts, tears and abrasions. The tread is designed for self-cleaning as well as the minimisation of vibration and noise, says DM Vaidya, president and director of technology at BKT. The tyre is the first product from the company's new purpose-built factory in Bhuj, India.

BKT is also showing a number of other new tyre models for the first time at bauma. The Earthmax SR 31 is a 23.5 R 25 sized tyre aimed at loaders, dozers and articulated dumpers. The Liftmax 81 is a radial tyre for forklift trucks and is specially designed for durability. Its steel-belted casing decreases the rolling resistance resulting in lower fuel consumption, claims the company. The size 18.00 R 25 Portmax PM 90 is tailored for reach stackers in container handling operations. The Portmax PM 93 is a radial tyre for straddle carriers in port applications and container handling with high load capacity and extended durability.

BKT has a complete in-house research and development facility as well as its own mould building operation. This enables the company to respond quickly to new or changing OEM or end user requirements, as well as giving added security of intellectual property, said Vaidya. A well-resourced global after-sales service network is another competitive advantage for the company, he said.
