Atlas Copco’s WEDA 04S pump

The WEDA 04S is the latest addition to the Atlas Copco Portable Energy line-up of small submersible pumps for the light construction and general equipment rental industries. A 0.4kW on-site sludge/trash pump with a maximum flow of 270lpm and a maximum head of 10.5m, the WEDA 04S complements the WEDA line of under 1kW single-phase drainage, sludge and residual pumps released last year. The new pump model has a cast iron vortex impeller that is able to pump dirty water and handle solids up to 2.5cm in size.

The WEDA 04S is the latest addition to the 161 Atlas Copco Portable Energy line-up of small submersible pumps for the light construction and general equipment rental industries.

This makes the WEDA 04S a practical choice for dewatering sewage on construction sites or flooded building basements, removing rainwater from sandy or muddy ditches and excavation sites, or getting rid of unwanted water during maintenance of utility manholes.

Described as robust and easy to maintain thanks to its triple seal system (double mechanical shaft seals constructed from silicon carbide with an additional lip seal), the WEDA 04S pump’s thermal protection gives the motor additional reliability and run-dry capabilities. Its low 10kg weight and compact dimensions ensure the pump is easily portable from one dewatering task to the next.

The Atlas Copco WEDA small range pumps also consists of: the WEDA 04 and WEDA 08 drainage pumps; the WEDA 04B residual pump that draws water down to 1mm; and the sand-and mud-resistant WEDA 08S sludge pump. Atlas Copco also offers a range of kits, hoses and coupling accessories for the WEDA pumps.

The CE-compliant 50Hz variant of the WEDA 04S is available now from the Atlas Copco Portable OEM Solutions factory in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. The CSA-UL approved 60Hz version will be available in early 2014.

The latest developments in drilling rigs can help boost efficiency in quarry producion applications - Mike Woof reports. Efficient drilling and blasting operations can have a huge impact on production costs in quarrying. Accuracy of hole direction and depth, as well as optimum blast design and explosives use, are critical for efficient blasting work. Ineffective blasting can result in high quantities of fines of low commercial value as well as over-sized material requiring secondary breaking. This impacts o

Chicago Pneumatic (CP) has unveiled its comprehensive new concrete equipment range. In applications from walls to floor slabs, the range has products to cover every step of the job, from vibration and levelling to finishing and cutting. Freshly poured concrete has air voids which must be removed by vibration to increase its density and finished strength. Depending on the concrete’s depth and slump, this can be achieved using a poker or screed. Customers can now choose mechanical, electric or pneumatic p
