Posi-Track RT-30 track loader

8599 ASV, a joint venture between 8600 Manitex International and 1222 Terex, is showing its range of compact track and skid steer loaders for the construction and forestry markets at CONEXPO-CON/AGG. The machines feature the patented Posi-Track undercarriage technology that provides exceptional traction on soft, wet, slippery, rough or hilly terrain, claims the company.

Smallest in the range is the Posi-Track RT-30 track loader, featuring efficient hydraulics and cooling systems and low ground pressure. Weighing just 3,600lb and only 48 inches wide, the RT-30 has an 8.4-foot lift height. Its compact size and 10 inches of ground clearance minimise risk of property damage or damage to the machine. The performance and design make the machine a more productive alternative to walk-behind and sit-on mini skid steer loaders, claims the company.

The RT-75 HD is a heavy-duty customisation of the company's standard RT-75 compact track loader. Targeted at forestry applications, the durability upgrade features include metal guarding against brush and debris around key areas - such as lights, the AC condenser and rear screen. The machine blows mulching debris out of the engine compartment screens with a hydraulically-driven, auto-reversing cooling fan. A full rear brush guard is also available as a factory-installed option. The machine works with standard attachments.

Including mulching heads, brush cutters, backhoes, buckets, snow blades and pallet forks.

The excavator remains the key earthmoving tool, Mike Woof reports. The versatile hydraulic excavator has been at the heart of most earthmoving projects around the world for many years, a dominance that looks set to remain. Because of the importance to the construction sector of the excavator, manufacturers are keen to upgrade and improve their competing machines on an almost continuous basis. New technology proliferates in hydraulic excavators while firms are also focussing on increasing the range of tasks

Mike Woof reports on equipment developments in the demolition sector. The hydraulic hammer is a tough tool used in a wide array of demolition jobs. Highly versatile, the breaker has evolved from a simple design based on rockdrilling equipment into a sophisticated and reliable piece of machinery. German firm Krupp and French company Montabert were pioneers of the hydraulic breaker, being followed into the market by a growing array of other manufacturers. Early breakers had the unfortunate habit of tearing th

French excavator and loader manufacturer Mecalac will launch its MCR6 compact excavator at Bauma. The machine, seen in prototype form at last year’s Intermat show, has a travel speed of up to 10km/h and can be used as both a skid steer loader and an excavator. Built at a new site in Turkey, the MCR6 weighs in at 6 tonnes and is powered by a 55kW (75hp) engine. In excavator mode the machine has a maximum tearout force of 2,400daN and a breakout force of 3,900daN.
