Zoomlion’s Asian ambition for dry-mix mortar

Zoomlion has ambitious plans to introduce dry-mix mortar production equipment to China and South East Asia following the firm’s recent acquisition of M-TEC – the German-based market leader. Patrick Hei, head of Zoomlion’s concrete machinery, said the firm’s acquisition of M-TEC creates growth opportunities for dry-mix mortar equipment in Asia
1175 Zoomlion has ambitious plans to introduce dry-mix mortar production equipment to China and South East Asia following the firm’s recent acquisition of 7557 M-TEC – the German-based market leader.

Speaking at Conexpo 2014, Patrick Hei, Zoomlion’s sales director of concrete machinery, said, “Dry-mix mortar in western countries is a common product for industry. However, in China and South East Asia, and some developing countries, this is a new product for industry.

“Zoomlion believes that with its technology and sales ability, this is a good opportunity for it to develop dry-mix mortar for the China and South East Asia market.

“M-TEC is a very famous brand in Europe and North America. Its market share there will be very stable. We don’t think it will increase very sharply, but I’m sure that in China and South East Asia its sales will increase.”

Hei said that as part of the Chinese Government’s ongoing efforts to tackle poor air quality, firms involved in construction projects are being encouraged to look at more environmentally friendly building materials, such as dry-mixed mortar.

Established in 1978 and acquired by Zoomlion in December 2013, German company M-TEC’s products cover the whole process of dry-mixed mortar production and are available in more than 50 countries and regions around the world.

Zoomlion already owns world renowned Italian truck-mounted concrete machinery manufacturer CIFA, and, on announcing the M-TEC acquisition, stressed its “top brand position” in the concrete machinery field.
