Yanmar shows new engines at INTERMAT

Yanmar Europe is using INTERMAT to reveal a new series of water-cooled industrial diesel engines that meet the new EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage IIIB off-highway emission regulations up to 56kW. Based on its TNV series, the new range includes 10 models in three- and four-cylinder formats with indirect and direct injection, and ranging from 10kW to 56kW. 2293 Yanmar Europe is using INTERMAT to reveal a new series of water-cooled industrial diesel engines that meet the new EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage IIIB off-highway emission regulations up to 56kW.

Based on its TNV series, the new range includes 10 models in three- and four-cylinder formats with indirect and direct injection, and ranging from 10kW to 56kW.

Four of these new engines, the 3TNV80F, 3TNV88C, 3TNV86CT and 4TNV98C, will be shown at INTERMAT 2012.

Engines over 19kW use an ECU-controlled common rail fuel injection, cooled EGR, a new throttle valve and a diesel particulate filter (DPF). A new diagnostic system called Yanmar SA-D, and the remote monitoring system Yanmar SA-R, provide real-time engine status and allow pro-active servicing to be carried out.

Cummins used bauma to reveal the QSF3.8 – a four-cylinder engine platform delivering a power range of 63-89kW – which is ready to meet Stage IV/Tier 4 Final emissions regulations. Using only SCR for its exhaust after-treatment process, the QSF3.8 avoids the need for either DOC or DPF as a result of using a high-efficiency catalyst to convert oxides of nitrogen at lower exhaust temperatures while requiring only low doses of DEF, said the company.

Cat’s latest E-series excavator is the 16.7tonne 316E. It replaces the 315D and gets a Cat C4.4 Acert engine to meet EU Stage IIIb emissions. It is the first of three smaller E series being launched by Cat this year. Electric boom regeneration is also available on the new model, and combined with the latest engine technology, gives the company a fuel-saving focus. There is a new cab with lower noise levels – typically a 4dB(a) reduction over its D series predecessor – and improved comfort and visibility too
