The work on the construction of the next stretch of the A100 motorway in Berlin, Germany, is about to start. The project is expected to cost €473 million (US$616.72mn) and be completed by 2020.
Construction has started on the €117 million bridge over the Danube River between the Hungarian town of Komarom and the Slovak town of Komarno. Around 85% of the cost will be covered by European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility. Completion is planned for winter 2019. Last summer it was announced that the Hungarian companies Hidepito and Meszaros es Meszaros had won the tender for the 600m bridge but with a price tag of just over €91 million, according to Hungarian media. Liebherr has started building a new components development and manufacturing plant in Biberach an der Riss (Baden-Württemberg) in southern Germany.
The development and manufacture of switchgear and also electric motors and generators, currently functions of the company's existing factory in Biberach, are to be relocated to the new site. With the new plant, Liebherr-Components Biberach will have the additional capacity necessary to meet the growing demand of these products in the long term.
Planning is in hand for the construction of Russia’s Silk Route's section. The Silk Road project is intended to connect China with Europe by road. The stretch in Russia will link Moscow’s Central Ring Road to Kazakhstan. The cost of this stretch of the road project estimated at around US$11.8 billion.
