The work on the construction of the next stretch of the A100 motorway in Berlin, Germany, is about to start. The project is expected to cost €473 million (US$616.72mn) and be completed by 2020.
The tendering process for the Juan Pablo II motorway project in Nicaragua’s capital Managua is opening shortly. Construction work is then expected commence in late 2019, once the deal has been awarded to suitable contractor. The motorway will stretch nearly 10km and the work is expected to cost US$270 million. Nicaragua itself will pay $28.6 million for the project with $136 million coming from the Central American Bank for Economic Intergration (CABEI) and another $136 million the European Investment Ban
Slovak national motorway company NDS plans to start the reconstruction and modernisation of the D1 motorway section between Bratislava and Trnava in H2 2014.
As part of the near €150 million project, the current six-lane motorway will be extended by adding an emergency lane. The building works are expected to last 24 months and will include demolition and reconstruction of some of the existing road bridges, as well as construction of new ones. The motorway lanes will be extended from the current 3.5m to 3.
Plans are moving forward for the construction of a new highway tunnel under the River Elbe in Germany. The 6.5km tunnel will form part of the A20 autobahn linking Bad Segeberg and Bremerhaven. The tunnel will be constructed Glückstadt and Drochtersen and a section of the A26 autobahn that connects with the busy port city of Hamburg.
