The work on the construction of the next stretch of the A100 motorway in Berlin, Germany, is about to start. The project is expected to cost €473 million (US$616.72mn) and be completed by 2020.
Construction work on a key highway link in Oman is due to commence shortly. The 46km stretch of highway will be built by a joint venture comprising Serbian firm Konstruktor and Indian company Simplex Infrastructure. The project is worth some US$335 million and Simplex Infrastructure will be the majority partner with 52%, while Konstruktor will hold the remaining 48%. The agreement for the project was signed between the joint venture partners and the Ministry of Transport and Telecoms of Sultanata Oman.
Some of the bottlenecks on the multi-lane Mittlere Ring, Munich, Germany, one of the main arterial roads circling the city centre have been eliminated by the addition of new tunnels. The Luise-Kiesselbach Square, the last section of this road improvement effort, is an important traffic hub south-west of the city where motorways A96 from Lindau and A5 from Garmisch meet, causing long delays in daily rush-hour traffic, writes Patrick Smith.
