Work begins on Vietnam’s Long Van-Long My road project
Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province. The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.

Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province.
The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.
A total of US$1.89billion (CNY 11.97bn) has been allocated to build 51.47km of highways across the city of Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province, China. The feasibility report for the plan was recently approved by provincial authorities.
The second phase of Vietnam’s rural bridge building programme will construct around 4,000 bridges, many of them road bridges, and will start next month
Nguyen Van Huyen, director of the Directorate for Roads, said many of the bridges will be suspension type and improve communication for around 5,200 communes in 50 provinces.
A report by the English-language news agency VietNamNet quoted Nhuyen saying that priority will be given to 63 impoverished districts, many of them home to ethnic minorities.
Work is now underway on India’s Rohtang tunnel project, located in Himachal Pradesh. The 9km long tunnel is expected to cost US$365.75 million and with work having just started, is due for completion before 2015. The project was first suggested back in 1983 but it has taken until now for the work to get underway. When complete the link will reduce the travel distance between the Lahaul Valley and the green Kullu Valley by 46km. The link will improve India’s transport connections to China. The 11m wide link
