Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province.
The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.
Vietnam’s Van Don-Mong Cai highway is expected to cost US$471.4 million to construct. The 80km-long highway will be built in Quang Ninh Province in the north of the country. The route will feature two lanes in either direction and the project will be carried out under the build-operate-transfer, PPP model. Construction is expected to take 22 months to complete, with the work being carried out by a joint venture comprising Van Don Sun, Long Van Infrastructure Investment and Development and Cong Thanh
Vietnam is pushing ahead with its road and highway development programme. One crucial project is for the construction of the Ho Chi Minh (HCM) Road project. When complete the route will connect Cao Bang with Ca Mau, with some US$903 million required to finish the work. Around 79% of the 2,744km HCM route is open already, with the road due for completion by 2020. The 98km stretch linking Cam Lo and La Son should be ready in 2019, although work has stopped for the moment on another 289km section of the route
The cost of the first section of Vietnam’s Bien Hoa-Vung Tau highway, a 47km stretch in the Southern Key Economic Zone, will be around US$355 million.
Vietnam’s transport ministry said the total cost of the entire 70km motorway will come in at $1.03 billion. The government considers the zone to be the country’s engine of growth, accounting for 60% of Vietnam’s industrial production by value and 70% of export revenue.
