Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province.
The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.
There is a lot of work to do on Bulgarian roads, but the government has plans to increase the length of highways built each year as Krasimir Krastanov reports. Bulgarian roads with a pavement make up 98.4% of all the country's roads, while 92.5% of them have an asphalt surface and 82.8% of them are able to carry 10tonnes/axle.
Work has started on Algeria’s 63km bypass motorway to connect Guelma with Annaba and the East-West motorway, which is set to be completed within two years.
Algeria’s Minister for Public Works Abdelkader Kadi made the announcement, has announced the launch of work on the 63km bypass connecting Guelma with Annaba. Nearly $346 million has been set aside for the 35km part of the project within the province of Guelma.

Rebuilding work on a key highway stretch in Belarus is now commencing. Upgrading and widening of the second stage of the M6 route which runs from Minsk, the capital of Belarus to the border with Poland is of key importance for the country’s international transport links.
Much of the excavation work for the North Connex highway tunnel project in Sydney, Australia will be carried out by roadheaders from Sandvik. In all, six MT720s, one MT620 and six MT520 machines will work on the project, in addition to six road headers from other suppliers.
The work is being carried out by the Lend Lease–Bouygues Joint Venture (LLB JV) and is constructing a strategically important highway. The project is being sponsored by the NSW Government, Transurban and the M7 Westlink Shareholders.
