2394 Volvo’s F-series articulated dump trucks with full suspension can be specified with the company’s On Board Weighing (OBW) system, which won Gold in the Civil Engineering Equipment category of the prestigious Intermat 2012 Innovation Awards.

The OBW cleverly monitors weight from pressure sensors in the ADT’s suspension system, to give payload information. The fully automatic system logs all transported loads.

When used with Volvo’s CareTrack telematics system OBW can be accessed remotely, revealing total transported load in tones, tonnes transported per litre of fuel and the number of cycles. It will also highlight if the machine has been over-loaded.

OBW includes a load indicator light, positioned so it can be seen by the loader operator, and shines yellow when part loaded, changing to green at nominal load capacity. The lamp shines red when overloaded.

Volvo said the nominal load indicator can be preset to suit material and site requirements.

    January 6, 2017
A 6% increase in lift capacity, greater digging efficiency, reduced emissions and up to 5% lower fuel consumption are the benefits of Case’s new CX470C excavator. The 47 to 50tonne machine has a 9.8litre Stage IIIB engine delivering 270kW at 2,000rpm which contributes to a 5% increase in fuel efficiency and 5% faster cycle times. Some of the savings come from a Boom Economy Control, which automatically reduces engine revs and hydraulic power to the boom when speed and power are not a priority.
