Volgograd authorities to allot over US$231 million for roads in 2013
The Volgograd region (South) authorities will allot over US$231 million (RUB 7bn) for roads in 2013. A total of $82.64 million will be provided for construction, about $92.56 million for repairing and maintaining regional road facilities.

Russia’s road building and upgrading programme is now gathering pace. Russia's Federal Highway Agency plans to bring over 85% of federal roads into conformity with road traffic regulations. A total of US$1.01 billion (MXN 12.91bn) will be allocated from Mexico’s 2013 federal budget for 783 road work projects across 31 states. Chiapas will receive the largest amount at $73.64 million (MXN 940mn) for 64 projects-; followed by Guerrero’s $69.8 million (MXN 891mn) - and Hidalgo $63.92 million (MXN 816mn). The road work projects do not include any works planned for Mexico City.
Authorities in India’s north-west state of Punjab have approved the upgrade of 11,000km of state link roads for approximately US$306.77 million (INR 17bn). This is in addition to the construction of 637km of roads for $57.81 million (INR 3.19bn) under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which will see $138.65 million (INR 7.65bn) spent to complete 192 roads by December 2013. Approval was also given to repair and maintain other roads and State highways with $57.09 million (INR 3.15bn).
The Russian government is allocating an extra US$1.56 billion (RUB 51bn) for the construction of new airports and roads in FIFA World Cup 2018 host regions. The Russian transport system development programme for 2010-2020 is reported to have been amended accordingly. Of the overall new funding pot, $936.34 million (RUB 30.7bn) will be spent on road construction. The government is looking to attract private investors to contribute to the new road and airport works through public-private partnerships.
