French firm VINCI has completed its acquisition of UK contractor FM Conway. This deal means that FM Conway now joins the network of VINCI Construction.
With a turnover of £580 million and employing over 2,000 people, FM Conway delivers maintenance and construction services across transportation, the built environment and public realm. The business has been a pioneer in sustainable construction through its advanced circular economy model, and in particular the use of high recycled asphalt on the local and strategic road networks.

FM Conway will continue to operate as a standalone business but benefit from the wider group support and resources. On completion of the agreement, Joanne Conway has stepped away from the company and longstanding board member, Andrew Hansen, will oversee the next phase of FM Conway’s evolution and growth within VINCI. Hansen joined the business in 1998 and becomes FM Conway managing director, and an EXCOM member of the UK division of VINCI Construction.  Mark Goldsworthy remains as CFO of FM Conway while joining the board of FM Conway will be Xavier Lansade and Scott Wardrop.

Andrew Hansen said: “This is an exciting new chapter in FM Conway’s story, opening up fantastic opportunities for how we deliver for our clients and for communities.  We’ve always been a company that has pushed boundaries and embraced new opportunities.  Over the past 27 years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing firsthand what this business can accomplish.  Now with the additional firepower of VINCI Construction behind us, I’ve no doubt that our people will continue to achieve great things.  The future is very bright.”

Scott Wardrop, chief executive of VINCI Construction in the UK, said: “I am very pleased to welcome the FM Conway team to VINCI. I have known the family and senior team for a long time, respected the culture, the innovation and professionalism, which complements the businesses of VINCI Construction. I know we will learn from each other, and firmly believe that successful and sustainable infrastructure services businesses, must have knowledge of their whole supply chain – FM Conway strengthens our capability.”
