Vietnam's road to PPPs

A new plan has been put forward by Vietnam's Ministry of Investment and Planning for PPP infrastructure projects including highways.

A new plan has been put forward by Vietnam's 2502 Ministry of Planning and Investment for PPP infrastructure projects including highways. The PPPs are to be introduced under a pilot programme and the first such project is likely to be the highway connecting Dau Giay with Phan Thiet city. This project is worth some US$750 million. Among the other projects are the Da Nang-Quang Ngai, Ninh Binh-Thanh Hoa, Noi Bai-Ha Long and My Thuan-Can Tho highways.

    Vietnam’s government has secured an ODA (Overseas Development Agency) financial support package worth US$844.95 million (JPY 86.4 billion) for four infrastructure projects in the country. A total of $179.75 million (JPY 18.4 billion) of the package will go to Ho Chi Minh City-Dau Giay Highway that is scheduled for completion in July 2016, while another $165.1 million (JPY 16.9 billion) is allocated for Tan Vu-Lach Huyen Road, set to open in early 2017.
