Plans are now well in hand for two major highway projects in Vietnam.

Plans are now well in hand for two major highway projects in Vietnam. The two highways will be located in the southwest of the country. A 225km link running along the country's southern coast is expected to cost US$440 million and work is now starting. This highway will connect Ca Mau city and the Xa Xia border and will run through Kien Giang Province. Meanwhile the 32km stretch of the My Thuan-Can Tho highway will cost some $294 million to build and will be developed under the PPP model. This will be a four lane link with two lanes of traffic in either direction and the project will be carried out by 3561 Cuu Long Corporation for Investment, Development and Project Management of Transport Infrastructure (Cuu Long CIPM).

    PNC Infratech is to build a 32new highway connection in Uttar Pradesh in India. The project is expected to cost close to US$143.5 million and includes the construction of a 32km bypass, featuring two lanes in either direction. The contract was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is expected to take 36 months to complete.

  • Zambia road surfacing upgrade

    Work is starting on an upgrade for a 100km stretch of road in Zambia. The route connects Nchelenge and Chiengi districts and will benefit from a new asphalt surface. The project is costing US$77 million and is being carried out by the contractor Sinohydro Zambia. Delays to the work have been caused by heavy rains however. The Zambian Government has paid an initial $3.8 million for the work to be carried out and the project is expected to take two years to complete.
