Vietnam is seeing road safety improvements

Vietnam has seen a drop in road traffic crashes in the period from January-April 2016 compared with the same period in 2015. According to Vietnam’s National Traffic Safety Committee, the number of road crashes fell by 12.6% to 6,620 during this period. Collisions accounted for 3,190 of Vietnam’s road crashes, which resulted in 1,945 serious injuries and caused 2,790 fatalities during the January-April 2016 period.

Vietnam has seen a drop in road traffic crashes in the period from January-April 2016 compared with the same period in 2015. According to Vietnam’s National Traffic Safety Committee, the number of road crashes fell by 12.6% to 6,620 during this period. Collisions accounted for 3,190 of Vietnam’s road crashes, which resulted in 1,945 serious injuries and caused 2,790 fatalities during the January-April 2016 period. Overall, the number of crash-related injuries in Vietnam dropped 17.32% to 5,850 during this time period, while the number of fatalities fell 5.45% to 2,860. Meanwhile, the traffic police revoked around 109,000 driving licenses and collected some US$38.05 million in fines.

    Oman has seen an improvement in its road safety standards for the January-July 2017 period. According to data from the country’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), there was a reduction in road crashes to 2,349 incidents by the end of July 2017, a fall of 16.5% from the 2,814 recorded in the same period in 2016. Meanwhile the number of serious injuries from road crashes dropped to 374, a fall of 5.8% from 398 in the period. And road fatalities also fell slightly from 246 to 244.
