Vietnam road safety plan

Vietnam is setting a plan in progress to cut the country’s road crash rate. The aim is to reduce deaths and serious injuries on the country’s road network by 5-10%. Various measures are being introduced in a bid to reduce risks for road users, such as better enforcement of existing laws and better traffic flow management for major cities.

    There has been little change in road safety in the UK since 2012, according to the latest data. In 2017 there were 1,793 road deaths on the UK road network, compared with 1,792 in 2016.     Concern has been expressed at the increase in road deaths in the US. There were 37,461 road deaths on US roads in 2016, an increase of 5.6% from 2015. The data comes from the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The NHTSA data was collected from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It also shows that the vehicle distance travelled on US roads in 2016 increased by 2.2%.
