Elevated highways stretching 34.5km in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City may be developed at US$2.68 billion. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport are tweaking the project in a move to lure investors. None have come forward at present.
The China-based Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Philippines-based Asian Development Bank will co-finance a 64km highway project between Khanewal and Shorkot towns in Punjab province of Pakistan.
A report in Japan Today said that ADB had approved a €88.85 million loan for the project. AIIB will likely get board approval for its nearly €89 million this month. A grant for the project worth nearly €34 million is being extended by the UK’s Department of International Development.

Foreign financing will help fund Nepal’s Kathmandu-Kulekhani-Hetaudi Tunnel Highway project. The 58km highway is expected to cost some US$375 million in all and Nepal Purbadhar Bikash Company (NPBCL) plans to raise some $273.5 million of this from foreign investors. This move comes after it NPBCL to secure funding from local investors for the project. Ethiopia is setting a target of 2020 to complete its road expansion programme. The plan has been to double the length of the country’s road network in the period from 2015 to 2020. At present Ethiopia has around 121,200km of roads, compared with around 100,000km of roads in 2015. But by 2020, the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) aims to expand the network to 200,000km.
