Elevated highways stretching 34.5km in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City may be developed at US$2.68 billion. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport are tweaking the project in a move to lure investors. None have come forward at present.
Two major transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam with a combined value of more than US$2billion are a step closer to completion. A tender to appoint a contractor for the US$1.47billion Danang-Quang Ngai highway development has been published by Vietnam Expressway Corp (VEC).
Transportation project development in Vietnam will be using cement instead of asphalt. A plan for the switch to cement through 2020 will be drafted by the Department of Planning and Investment. The plan will have a vision through 2020. A deal to support such switch has been entered by the Ministries of Construction and Transport. Work is well underway on a massive highway project in Vietnam designed to boost transport connections between key cities. The country’s Ministry of Transport has announced that it expects to complete upgrading and widening work on National Highway I by the end of 2016. The upgraded highway will improve connections between the cities of Chan Tho and Hanoi. The project is being carried out under a build-operate-transfer model and has is expected to cost some US$4.27 billion.
