Elevated highways stretching 34.5km in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City may be developed at US$2.68 billion. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport are tweaking the project in a move to lure investors. None have come forward at present.
Several major infrastructure projects are being prioritised in Indonesia by the country's government. In all 10 infrastructure projects are seen as so crucial for the country’s development that they will be pushed forward, so that work can commence during 2015. Because of the importance of the projects, companies may be appointed directly, instead of a formal tender being issued. The governments of Bangladesh and China have been discussing the possibiilty of investments in infrastructure. China will invest some US$50 billion in helping Bangladesh develop its infrastructure network. Transport will be a key priority. Key projects will include an elevated expressway and a four lane highway, as well as a new rail link and the Karnafuli River Tunnel.
The tender process is still underway for three sections of the new super highway project to connect Nagpur and Mumbai in India. Meanwhile 10 of the contracts for the Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway (NMSCE) have now been awarded. The NMSCE highway project will provide an improved transport link between Nagpur and Mumbai, which are around 690km apart. The NMSCE highway is expected to cost a total of US$6.8 billion to construct.
