A feasibility study for a new highway connection between Vietnam and Laos is currently the subject of political discussion between the two nations. The US$205.5 million project will stretch some 200km and provide a new highway link between the countries, helping to boost trade. Official Development Assistance (ODA) will provide up to $173.3 million for the project, which will see National Highway No 217 being upgraded. Meanwhile the 943 Asian Development Bank is expected to provide some $70 million for the project through a loan.
