Vietnam Government seeks investors for US$ 2.68bn elevated highways

The Vietnamese Government is seeking investors to support the construction of four 34.5km elevated highways valued at a combined US $ 2.68 billion in Ho Chi Minh City. Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport are said to be tweaking the project, agreed by Government in 2007, in a bid to lure its first investors.

    Major highway projects are seeing progress in India. The US$1.52 billion Zojila Pass tunnel project is being planned in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The project has been awarded to local road development firm IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB). The 14.08km tunnel is expected to take seven years to complete. The concession for the project is for 22 years. As part of the deal, IRB will oversee the construction of 10.8km of approach roads on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road in Jammu and Kashmir.
