Vietnam Government seeks investors for US$ 2.68bn elevated highways

The Vietnamese Government is seeking investors to support the construction of four 34.5km elevated highways valued at a combined US $ 2.68 billion in Ho Chi Minh City. Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport are said to be tweaking the project, agreed by Government in 2007, in a bid to lure its first investors.

    Shaanxi province in China saw a US$1.34 billion (CNY 8.20bn) investment in highway projects in the first six months of 2013, representing 58.6% of the total planned investment of $2.26 billion (CNY 14bn) for the whole of 2013.     The Highways Department (HD) in Thailand is considering an extension on two elevated roads from Bangkok to maintain its traffic links with the South, North and Northeast should the capital be hit with floods. The HD would extend Boromratchonnanee Elevated Road from Phutthamonthon Sai 2 Road to Phetkasem Road to make sure that traffic to the South does not face any disruption caused by floods in the future.
