Many manufacturers claim that their machines are “versatile” or “flexible”, even “fast reacting” when working on site.

But life shouldn’t be all work and no play. Even excavators and their drivers need a day off for some fun and one New York state contractor, 8493 Fastracs, has for three years made the point. Fastracs owner Leith Cookingham and his crew put on the 3rd Annual Fastracs auto soccer game show last April.

The football for this five-a-side games, which took place in the town of Red Hook, was nearly 2.5m in diameter – that’s 8 feet for our North American readers.

The action was filmed by cameras aboard a drone, from Dà-Jiāng Innovations Science and Technology, a Chinese company based in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
