A report from the 1331 VDMA (the German Engineering Federation) says that mid-year business situation is highly diverse for companies in the German construction equipment and building material machinery industries.
The German manufacturers association, VDMA, has compiled data suggesting that following the slump in construction equipment sales in 2009, the market will recover in 2010.
The VDMA reports that in 2009 German construction equipment sales fell in by some 43% to €9.5 billion.
Dr Christof Kemmann, VDMA chairman said at a recent board meeting of the organisation, “...2009 has been the most difficult year ever for our industry.”
German construction equipment and plant engineering trade association the VDMA has staged its annual BuB Construction Day which this year highlighted industry progress in digitisation, automation and machine communication.
Earthmoving sales in Germany this year could top 30,000, according to Joachim Schmid, managing director of VDMA - Construction Equipment and Building Materials Machinery Association. Orders are also up 14% on that of 2016, said Schmid who was speaking during this week’s Steinexpo2017 demonstration trade fair near the central German city of Homberg. The event is held in the Nieder-Ofleiden basalt quarry – the largest such quarry in Europe.
