US$366 million Vietnam coast road approved

Phan Thiet City project will include bridges over Ca Ty and Phu Hai rivers

Binh Thuan Province has approved a US$366.2 million (VND9.5 trillion) plan to build a new coastal road through Phan Thiet City, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.

The agency states that the route is nearly 15km long, starting at the roundabout of DT.706B road (Phu Hai ward) and ending at the intersection with DT.719 road at Cambodia slope (Tien Thanh commune).

The Standing Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee has agreed on the investment policy for the coastal road through the centre of Phan Thiet City, an important route connecting with existing coastal routes to promote the urban and tourism development of Phan Thiet city centre.

The new coastal route will have six lanes and feature land reclamation, a coastal park, and bridges over the Ca Ty and Phu Hai rivers.

The project is part of Binh Thuan province’s master development plan for 2021–2030 and has been listed as a priority public investment for the 2026–2030 period.

The Vietnam News Agency added that a preliminary survey showed that around 141 homes would be cleared for the project.

According to the provincial transport project management board, Binh Thuan aims to develop 206km of coastal roads by 2050, with several sections already put into service, including Lien Huong–Binh Thanh (5.8km), Song Luy–Hoa Thang (23km), DT.706B–Hung Vuong Bridge (20.4km), Ke Ga–Tan Thien (32.5km), and a 6km section through La Gi.

The project follows news Global Highways reported earlier this month of a new coastal road link that will boost economic development in Vietnam’s Hue City area.
