Peru is planning nine major road projects worth a total of US$2.83 billion. These nine road development works are being managed by Peru’s private investment promotion agency ProInversión, in addition to 22 other infrastructure projects.

The largest of the road projects will be for the $1.58 billion Longitudinal de la Sierra Tramo 4 project. This route will improve transport connections between Junín Region, Huancavelica Region, Ica Region, Ayacucho Region, and Apurímac Region. A further $1.13 billion will be spent on seven road projects for Cusco Region, Cerro de Pasco Region, Puno Region, Moquegua Region, Tarma Region, Huancayo Region and Tarapoto Region.

The work will improve transport within Peru, speeding journey times between the capital, Lima, situated on the Pacific Coast, with the rest of the country. Peru is building a ring road around capital Lima.
