US$1.89bn for new highways in Shijiazhuang, China

A total of US$1.89billion (CNY 11.97bn) has been allocated to build 51.47km of highways across the city of Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province, China. The feasibility report for the plan was recently approved by provincial authorities.

    China's Shandong province has set aside US$815.48million (CNY 5.16bn) for road developments in 2012, up 10.44% from its road development allocation in 2011. It will see Shandong's road network reaching 245,000km, according to its 2011-2015 plans. In Hebei Province a total of 12 highway projects worth an impressive US$9.66 billion will commence in 2011. These new highways will add a total of 852km to the network of the province. In addition, the authorities in Hebei Province are detailing additional plans to continue to develop the highway network with a target set of 6,762km in total by the end of 2015.

    China’s Guizhou Province is developing its transport infrastructure with a major programme of works being scheduled. Construction for six new highways is commencing during 2019, with the work being planned and managed by the Guizhou Provincial Transportation Department. These six highway sections will all feature at least two lanes in either direction, five of which will be for traffic speeds up to 80km/h. The 162km Nayong to Qinglong highway however will be for speeds up to 100km/h, is costing over US$5.

    Work is underway in China's Hebei province on the Zhangjiakou section of Erenhot-Qinhuangdao expressway. A total of US$1.12 billion (CNY 7 billion) will be invested in the 130.13km section, which will span between Dongtan Village of Guyuan County and Bainaobao Village of Kangbao County.
