Financing worth US$1.84 billion is being secured for a major road tunnel project in the Mumbai area in India. This will be used for the new tunnel connecting Thane with Borivli.

The tunnel stretches will total 10.25km, with a further 1.6km of linking roads. The project will deliver India’s longest tunnel, with three lanes in either direction.

The project is being managed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The new tunnel project is expected to reduce journey times between Thane and Borivli.
