US $1.2bn Zhoukou-Zhengzhou, China highway construction begins

Work has begun on constructing a US $ 1.2 billion 144km highway between Zhengzhou and Zhoukou in China. The highway has a designed speed of 120km/hour and a width of 28m.
Algeria’s national motorway agency (ANA) has revealed that the cost of the East-West motorway amounted to US$13 billion rather than the $12 billion originally planned. The cost of maintenance is between $23.65 million and $35.5 million/year. Before the end of 2015, road information signs providing real time information are expected to be set up. Italian contractor Astaldi has begun drilling two parallel tunnels as part of its S7 dual carriageway project in Poland.
Each tunnel, between Naprawa and Skomielna Biala and under the Lubon Maly massif, will each be just over 2km long.
Astaldi, based in Rome, won the three-year S7 dual carriageway project worth around €225 million in 2016
Work includes 38 bridges and viaducts and three motorway services. There will also be 25km of access roads and two junctions.
