US $1.2bn Zhoukou-Zhengzhou, China highway construction begins

Work has begun on constructing a US $ 1.2 billion 144km highway between Zhengzhou and Zhoukou in China. The highway has a designed speed of 120km/hour and a width of 28m.
The Chinese city of Wuxi plans to invest US$1.28 billion (CNY 8bn) in transport infrastructure during 2013. Alterations will be made to 150 dangerous bridges and 15 bus routes will be adjusted and opened within the year. Wuxi will also replace and add 100 buses and construct and upgrade 150km of rural roads. The Shuofang International Airport's second-phase terminal expansion will be completed within 2013, part of plans to increase the airport's passenger throughput to 3.6 million per year.
Joint ventures are set to be created by Italian-Thai Development (ITD) for road management and other aspects of the Dawei industrial zone and deepsea port megaproject in Myanmar. Eight joint ventures will be formed to run roads, water, rail, industrial estates, power, telecommunications, a port, and to relocate residents of Dawei. ITD may only own a stake of 3%-5% in each investment company via Dawei Development, its affiliate.
Ukraine’s Shulgin State Road Research Institute (DNDI) said US$32.65billion (UAH 264bn) needs to be spent on the country’s roads from 2013-2018. Within the overall figure, DNDI said US$13.22billion (UAH 108.3bn) should be allocated on maintenance and current repair, US$11.83billion (UAH 96.89bn) on construction and reconstruction of 2,200km of highways, and US$2.35billion (UAH 19.27bn) on overhaul.
