US $1.2bn Zhoukou-Zhengzhou, China highway construction begins

Work has begun on constructing a US $ 1.2 billion 144km highway between Zhengzhou and Zhoukou in China. The highway has a designed speed of 120km/hour and a width of 28m.
Two competing consortia are due to find out tomorrow (December 20 2013) which one has won the estimated €1.2 billion (US$1.65 billion) contract to build the Comarnic-Brasov highway section in Romania.
The Vistrada Nord consortium formed of Vinci of France, Strabag of Austria and Aktor of Greece, and another consortium involving Impreglio and Salini of Italy are vying for the prized works.

A loan worth US$1.20billion for the Padma Multipurpose Bridge project has been cancelled by the World Bank (WB).

Construction of Vietnam’s US$1.4 billion Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway is now underway.
The near 140km-long expressway will have four lanes and a speed limit of 120km/hour. It will link economic hubs like Dung Quat (Quang Ngai), Da Nang-Chu Lai (Quang Nam) and Nhon Hoi (Binh Dinh). The expressway will also have a monitoring centre, a maintenance centre and a service centre.
