Polish spending on modernisation and new road projects will reach around €4.33 billion (PLN 18bn) in 2013.

Among the planned investments are a section of the five express roads between Rawicz and Leszno, a section of the A1 motorway between Swierklam and Mszana, and a section of the A4 motorway between Korczowa and Jaroslaw.

Private companies have been contracted to maintain around 1,000km of motorways and roads, which will result in savings achieved by the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (1361 GDDKiA). As revealed by analyses carried out by independent experts and the 2332 World Bank, once the maintenance programme is fully implemented GDDKiA may save up to 40%.
