The upcoming bauma 2013 construction equipment show will be the largest ever

The bauma 2013 construction equipment exhibition in Munich is set to be the largest event in the show’s history. Organised by Messe München, this will be the 30th bauma exhibition in Munich and will run from the 15th-21st April 2013, with the show covering some 570,000m2 and attracting 3,300 exhibitors. The 688 Bauma 2013 construction equipment exhibition in Munich is set to be the largest event in the show’s history. Organised by 3995 Messe München, this will be the 30th bauma exhibition in Munich and will run from the 15th-21st April 2013, with the show covering some 570,000m2 and attracting 3,300 exhibitors. Some 450,000 visitors are expected to attend and Dr Wolf-Dietrich Müller, chief representative and senior executive officers of capital goods shows for the Messe München said, “We are able to increase our capacity at the trade fair site. We will have 570,000m2 of exhibition space and that is 20,000m2 more than before.”

He explained that this has been achieved by moving one of the parking areas further away allowing more open air exhibition space. Despite the tough trading conditions Messe München could have sold more exhibition space and Dr Müller said, “Many of our exhibitors wanted to expand their areas and we would have required 30,000m2 more.”

Further expansion is planned for the facility in the future too and Dr Müller said, “In 2018 we will have two more halls.” He added that construction work on halls C5 and C6 will commence after bauma 2016.

The partner nation for bauma 2013 will be Indonesia, in recognition of the fast paced economic development on-going in the country at present. Dr Müller said, “Indonesia is one of the top 20 leading economies in the world.”

Bauma 2013 will also be a major launch venue for new technologies, particularly with the Tier 4 Final/Stage IV emission technologies being launched in the US and Europe in 2014. Some 156 applications were made for the bauma 2013 innovations awards according to Anja Schnieder of the German equipment manufacturing association, 1331 VDMA. She added, “It was our target to increase the number of international applications and we achieved this.”

According to Schnieder, the German construction equipment manufacturers are seeing steady sales at present, although many are cautious about future prospects. According to the VDMA’s data, 2013 should see growth in all sectors of the European construction industry. She said that the Spanish and Italian markets continue to decline, although the Scandinavian and Baltic countries are seeing steady construction growth.

Looking further afield Dr Müller said that Messe München is bullish for its trade prospects. The upcoming 5930 Bauma China exhibition in Shanghai this November has 2,500 exhibitors booked into a 240,000m2 show area and is expected to draw over 210,000 visitors. The 1260 bC India event being run in Mumbai in partnership with the US equipment association the 676 AEM will cover 150,000m2 and has over 600 exhibitors booked, attracting an expected. 30,000 visitors. And the new bauma Africa event being run in Johannesburg’s Gallagher Convention Centre in September 2013, will have 200 exhibitors on a 20,000m2 site and draw over 15,000 visitors.
