Development work in full swing at Hillhead Quarry
In the United Kingdom, work is nearing completion on extending the showground area in preparation for 5894 Hillhead 2016.

In total, around 16,000tonnes of material have been excavated from an old tip area to create just under 2,000m2 of additional exhibitor space near the southern 255 JCB end of the site.

The show takes place from 28–30 June 2016 at Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton, Derbyshire in England.

Show director Richard Bradbury said there is a waiting list for outdoor space. “We are delighted to be able to accommodate some of this demand in the new area. Two access points have been created to maximize visitor flow – one opposite the far end of the JCB stand and the other coming off the aisle populated by the Invest Northern Ireland stands.

“Interest for indoor space has also been buoyant. With the Main Pavilion almost full, we have once again increased the size of the Registration Pavilion.”

  • Faster than a speeding cow – your local bus maybe?
    May 22, 2015
A methane-powered bus has set a speed record for a regular city bus of nearly 124km/h at a test track in the UK, according to media reports. The bus, from the southern city of Reading, was converted to run on compressed methane from cow manure and was painted black and white like a Friesian cow. Mechanics removed the bus’s engine governor that restricted the vehicle’s speed to 90km/h. The bus then broke the record on the banked high-speed circuit at Millbrook Proving Ground, near the city of Bedford.

It was reportedly a logistical challenge to collect a massive front shovel excavator from the open pit coal mine Calenturitas de Prodeco in north-eastern Colombia. The twin engines of the 290-tonne O&K RH 120-E mining excavator had given up the ghost and could not be repaired on site, leaving the monster stranded atop a high mound of earth. So the mining company contracted heavy haulage specialist Boom Logistics to collect the excavator and transport it to the repair shop 22km away. http://www.goldho

A report by Irish newspapers quoted one person saying it was “shameful” and “nobody cared enough to move this poor cat who had been killed by a car and the line was painted over it”.
