UAE’s roads risky reports research

Market research carried out in the UAE reveals that residents of the country are concerned about poor driving. The survey was carried out by market research firm Yougov. Of the 1,003 UAE residents who responded, 79% said they had seen distracted driving on the country’s roads in the last six months. Meanwhile 67% said they had seen speeding while 64% said they had seen road users tailgating. However 79% of respondents said that road conditions have improved in the last six months. Market research carried out in the UAE reveals that residents of the country are concerned about poor driving. The survey was carried out by market research firm Yougov. Of the 1,003 UAE residents who responded, 79% said they had seen distracted driving on the country’s roads in the last six months. Meanwhile 67% said they had seen speeding while 64% said they had seen road users tailgating. However 79% of respondents said that road conditions have improved in the last six months. Some 56% of respondents said that driving has become more dangerous over last six months and 19% said that they were involved in road crashes during the period.

  • UAE highlights crashes with heavy vehicles

    The authorities in the UAE have released data showing that over the past 15 years, at least 224 people were killed in crashes involving mini-vans, buses and trucks on the country’s roads. For the most part the fatalities involved workers going to, or coming back from, work and on stretches of major highways with speed limits of 100km/h. The deaths averaged 14/year. Records show the crashes were due to largely to reckless driving by the drivers of the heavy vehicles.
